Rise
&
Shine!

Rise & Shine! is former Faces and Small Faces keyman Ian
"Mac" McLagan's latest effort, and it continues in the
tradition of roots rock and roll which goes all the way back to
Chuck Berry. Could it be that true classics are timeless? You're
My Girl really picks up where the Faces left off - just a good
time, feel good, unpretentious rocker; yet still manages to sound
fresh and modern. The world needs more songs like these. For those
of us who have given up on the current crop of poseurs, American
Idol wannabes and ProTools perfected pop, this represents "REAL"
music, warts and all, played by "REAL" musicians, not
computers. Which is the way it should be. The classic lineup of
guitar, bass, drums, and piano are complemented on various songs
with dobro, cello and Hammond organ. This record reminds me of what
the Stones should have done after Some Girls, instead of
getting sucked into the disco era. Played with both balls and finesse
by The Bump Band: led by Mac on keys and vocals, Don Harvey on drums,
'Scrappy' Jud Newcomb, Gurf Morlix on guitars, and George Reiff
on bass.
